Gene Kasidit Sumneang

This issue of talkative is awesomely dense in concept. Other than having the dashing issue name ‘Over the Top’, our candidate here got her character so fly, it’s way beyond the peak. In what aspect you may ask? Singing, Fashion, Hair, Albums, bullseye Avant Garde straight to the point! It’s no one else other than Gene - Kasidit Sumneang. A singer who just recently, composed beautiful pieces for Diary of the Tootsies for us to listen. But today is different. She’s having fun in a different character. In this Fashion set she wore the attire… or more like, an invention made by Art Student, product designing faculty, Thammasart University. She hand picked three outfits of different styles. We guarantee that it is hella over the top. And when the crews, model, location are ready, the atmosphere in @tomact studio is still as fun as ever. She switched outfits, changing pose, without needing much direction at all. We also got plenty of beautiful shots, and abundance of conversation, cooked into Talkative column for everyone to behold. Want to know how spicy it is? Here are snippets for your enjoyment.

With love, in music
Where did my passion for music begin? My childhood. When I started growing up, learning the world, maturing, and then I realized that I becomes happy when I listen to musics, with an addition that my mothers went out to sing at various festive fair, places to places, which are mostly weddings. I liked to tag along with her, to listen to her sing, and I had a blast. Then I thought, singing is such an easily obtainable happiness, so it embeded into my mind that, I want to become a singer like my dear mother.” From the humble beginning, that tempered my into her love for virtuoso. When she first arrived in bangkok, Gene chose to work in a CD parlour that sells selections of famous songs like the Tower Records …

I am What I am
Admittably Gene Kasidit has became more widely known, from album Blonde that works in electronic pop style and new look that made fashion industry trembles. “Up until the album ‘blonde’ which I called a blonde (bronze pun?) age, it’s a point that I’ve experimented quite enough on the world. So I decided to become a pop lady, wore high heels, blonde wig, completely transformed into a party girl.
Homophobia
However, the feedback of her transformation isn’t all joy and dandy. The negatvity is as heated as the good one, she stated “There’s alot of old fan who implied; what is this? you were cool back then, was like David Bowie back then. There’s also alot of senior sayig the same sort too. I was stunned for a moment, didn’t expect those I respected would be like this.

There’s more to see in this interview to behold, such as love life, survival of the modern artists, new roles on screen and the story of homophobia. Follow her story and her full interview in @tom act issue 3/16 in the form of E-Magazine, do not miss!
